Woolacombe Beach is a popular three-mile-long sandy beach, which is family-friendly and is loved for its beautiful scenery. It is located between Croyde and Ilfracombe and is popular amongst surfers. There is car parking available, so it makes for the perfect location for a dog walk this summer.

Located in the number one dog-friendly location, Torquay, Babbacombe Beach is a favourite spot for dog walkers. There are cafes and toilets nearby so walkers can enjoy stopping for a cold drink whilst walking their dog in the sun this UK summer.
-
Livermead Sands
To avoid beaches with dog restrictions in place this summer, Livermead Sands in Torquay welcomes dogs all year round. The beach is found south of Corbyn Head, and the seafront makes for a picturesque dog walk in the sun. Livermead Sands is a long sandy stretch and is a popular spot for water sports. Therefore, it makes for the ideal location for a day trip with your family and furry friends!
Holiday experts share advice for dog owners this summer
Following good etiquette while walking your dog in summer is essential - especially as beaches get busier. To help make every outing enjoyable for you, your dog, and others, Parkdean Resorts has shared their top tips for stress-free seaside strolls this summer:
-
Keep dogs on a lead: Children may be afraid of dogs, or your dog may charge at birds on the beach, so it's always best to keep your dog on a lead to prevent any incidents.
-
Clean up after your dog: When setting off on a dog walk, always make sure you have poo bags on hand and always dispose of dog waste in bins so public walkways and beaches remain clean and tidy.
-
Check notices and signs: To make sure dog walkers don't break rules when walking on the beach this summer, always double-check beach signposts and notice boards. If you're unsure about beach restrictions, you can check these on the local council website.
-
Check tide times: When heading to the beach, it is advised to check tide times before you visit. Some beaches significantly shrink in size at high tide, with little to no sand, so it's best to go when the tide is low!
-
Avoid peak heat: Walk your dog in cooler temperatures, either early morning or later evening, to avoid peak temperatures in the day. This will avoid busy times on the beach, but also keep your dog cooler and more comfortable.
