Pets are now ‘sending’ more cards than ever before to their owners - and vice versa. Moonpig have seen a huge rise in people expressing love to and from their pets  this year, with sales of cards from and to our furry friends increasing by over 10% year on year.

The trend has been mostly for birthdays (30% of overall sales) or Mother's Day (15%), but this year the company has seen a rise in Christmas pet treats, with this being 14% of total pet related gifting and card giving.

Most of this trend is being driven by Brits buying cards for "pet parents," with 85% of these card sales being 'from' the animal to their 'mum' or 'dad’. Dog owners are by far and away the drivers of this trend accounting for over 80% of items - with aloof cats tailing behind at around 15%.

Polly Noel- Storr, Buying Director from Moonpig, who identified the rise in pet related purchases, said: “We are a nation who adores our pets, and we noticed a real uptake this year for purr-sonalised cards and gifts sent on behalf of our furry family members, so have been busy creating more options and bespoke ‘pet parent’ cards and gifts to keep up with the demand.”
