Lovable rescue dog learns to paint after waiting over a year for a home
Wallace first arrived in the care of animal welfare charity Mayhew after he was found as a stray. Not long after his arrival at the animal home in North West London, he celebrated his first birthday.
Now, having just celebrated his second birthday while still in the care of Mayhew and waiting for a forever home, Wallace has learned how to paint in the hope that it will help him stand out and find the best friend he’s been wishing for.
An intelligent dog who enjoys his training sessions, Wallace has been working with Mayhew’s canine behaviourist, who has spent time teaching him how to hold a paintbrush and create his very own masterpieces.
Canine Behaviourist, Georgie Bleza, shared: “Wallace is a lovable goofball who loves spending time with his people and showing off his intelligence. Despite being an active boy, he especially loves any training he can do whilst laying down!
“He is very much loved by us all at Mayhew, and we just want him to find the home he deserves.”
Wallace is a German Shepherd x Malamute cross who forms strong bonds with the people in his life. While not much is known about his life before he was rescued, it is likely that he has never had a real home of his own.
The staff at Mayhew are hoping that Wallace’s charming personality – alongside his painting skills – will help change that.
Despite his size, Wallace can feel overwhelmed at times, so his friends at Mayhew believe he would be happiest in a rural or semi-rural home. He could potentially live with another dog, subject to a successful meet at the centre, but would prefer a home without cats.
