Paws, Camera, Action! Pete Wicks and Dogs Trust Return for New Series of For Dogs' Sake on 13th October
The team at Dogs Trust will once again be welcomed into living rooms across the UK as series two of the smash hit U&W show, Pete Wicks: For Dogs' Sake returns to our screens on Monday, 13th October.
The show, fronted by TV personality, podcaster, and Strictly Come Dancing star (and passionate pup-lover) Pete Wicks, gives viewers an exclusive look behind the scenes at Dogs Trust, where they meet the dogs currently in the charity's care and the incredible team that works tirelessly to find them loving forever homes. Over the last six months, Pete has visited Dogs Trust centres across the UK, including Basildon, Leeds, Kenilworth, Canterbury and Darlington, to follow dogs through every stage of their journey, from rescue to rehabilitation, and finally, rehoming.
Series one of the show, which premiered in January, led to a 30% surge in Dogs Trust adoption applications. Many of the dogs who featured in the first series have now found their forever homes, including two to some very special adopters.
Dave, an abandoned 10 week old Jack Russel, met Pete Wicks in series one after he was brought into Dogs Trust Basildon with a broken leg. Sadly, his first adoption didn't work out, but Dave "struck gold" when he met Olympian and long-time Dogs Trust supporter Fatima Whitbread during a visit to Dogs Trust Basildon. Now named Freddie, he lives with Fatima and is thriving, thanks to getting all the training, exercise, attention, and love he needs.
And Ruby, a crossbreed, met For Dog's Sake Series Director, Melissa McCall, during filming of the first series at Dogs Trust Basildon. Ruby was found as a stray with a shock collar embedded in her neck, which was causing her lots of pain and required surgery to remove it.
Despite having no plans to adopt, Melissa was deeply moved by Ruby and her story, and knew it was meant to be. The two bonded throughout filming, and by the time filming wrapped, Ruby was living with Mel and her two cats and has settled beautifully into suburban life in Birmingham.
Pete Wicks: For Dogs' Sake Series 2 will premiere on Monday 13th October 2025 on UKTV's free-to-air channel U&W.
Dogs Trust Ambassador and presenter of the show, Pete Wicks, says:
"This series is a deeper dive into what Dogs Trust does. We've touched on what goes on at the centres, but this time we delve more into the heartbreak, the joy – everything. It was a magical experience.
"What I love about the show is giving credit to the people who work at Dogs Trust, showing what goes into rehabilitating sick, vulnerable dogs and finding them homes. They are all heroes and show such commitment and love.
"Dogs don't judge you, don't care where you've been or what you look like. All they want is love, and whatever love you give them, they give you back tenfold. They live for the moment, and the resilience and unconditional love they show is just incredible. That ability to love despite being treated terribly is a wonderful thing. If more people could be like dogs, I think we'd live in a better world."
Owen Sharp, Chief Executive of Dogs Trust, added:
"We're excited to welcome viewers back to our rehoming centres for a new series of Pete Wicks: For Dogs' Sake. The response to the first series was incredible, not just in the positive feedback we received, but in the impact it had on our services, with an increase in people coming forward to adopt, volunteer, and support our work after watching the show.
"Just like the first series, the new episodes offer a powerful, behind-the-scenes look at the realities of rescue, from the challenges our dogs face to the extraordinary transformations made possible by our dedicated teams and the compassionate individuals who open their homes and hearts to them."
