West Midlands rescue charity Birmingham Dogs Home is hosting a Royal Family Fun Day this Saturday (13 September). The extravaganza will take place at Tudor Grange Park in Solihull from 10am until 4pm.

Aimed at bringing the local community together, the theme of the event is 'paws and pageantry', which will be brought to life with a red carpet entrance and special crown making sessions.

Visitors will be able to enjoy the variety of activities on offer, including live entertainment, a tombola, face painting, shopping stalls and more.

Plus, West Midlands Police Dogs will be giving a demonstration, while the West Midlands Fire Service will be in attendance to talk to the community.

In addition to providing a fun day out for families and locals, the aim of the event is to raise vital funds to ensure Birmingham Dogs Home can continue to support abandoned dogs across the region. It costs the charity roughly £6,000 a day to keep the doors open to both of its centres in Solihull and Wolverhampton – with over 2,000 dogs rescued each year.

Staff and volunteers from Birmingham Dogs Home will be on hand throughout the day to provide advice on training, veterinary care, and responsible pet ownership.

Rachel Frost, Events and Community Fundraising Manager, said: "After having to reschedule earlier this summer, we're more excited than ever to finally push ahead with our Royal Family Fun Day. This is a fantastic opportunity for families, friends and, of course, our four-legged companions to come together and have a fun day-out.

"If you're free, we'd love you to join us and support our incredible team and the dogs they care for. Every penny raised will go towards our vital work rescuing and caring for dogs who need us most"

The event, which is sponsored by Ancol Pet Products, will also welcome a number of local businesses with shop stalls. Refreshments will be available to purchase during the day.

The Royal Family Fun Day is suitable for all ages and entry costs £2 for adults and £1 for children (dogs go free!). More information on the event can be found here.
